On November 29, 1955 my young husband, Lawrence Neal Meader, gave his life for our country. Our unborn son knew his father in name only.

In Book of Shades, I have addressed the finality of death whatever its cause. I wish to convey the notion that we are all shades. Whatever we do in this plane resonates forever.
