Kennedy Library has dedicated Room 111H in the memory of Dale W. Andrews.
Dr. Dale Walker Andrews worked at Cal Poly from 1950 to 1983 and he retired as the Executive Vice President. Throughout his career, he served in many roles at Cal Poly: Academic Vice President, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Dean of the College, Coordinator of Special Education Services, Agricultural Education Faculty Member, and Materials Program Coordinator. He also served as chief administrator of Cal Poly for a 10-month period following the retirement of Dr. Julian A. McPhee as well as Acting President in 1979, after the retirement of Robert E. Kennedy.
Dr. Andrews was involved in many higher education opportunities, including service as Chair of Administrative Council, Chair of Academic Council, Vice President and President of the Cal Poly Faculty and Staff Association, and Treasurer and Vice President of the Cal Poly Foundation. He was also active in community activities, serving as Director of the Civic and Fine Arts Association, and Director of the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce.
He retired from Cal Poly in 1983, at the age of 63. Upon his retirement, he remained an active participant in the University community through membership in the Retired Faculty and Staff Club, and continued to be one of Cal Poly’s strongest advocates. Dr. Andrews died at the age of 87 in March 2007.
