About
Kyle Tanaka is Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Librarian and works across campus colleges, offices, and departments to ensure students have the resources and skills needed to succeed at Cal Poly. He provides a variety of instructional and reference services to historically-marginalized and underserved student populations, and works with staff and faculty to empower student learning in equitable and inclusive ways. Kyle has a PhD in philosophy from Emory University, an MA in philosophy from Stony Brook University, and a BA in philosophy from California State University, Stanislaus. His academic interests include inclusivity and equity in higher education (especially pedagogy), the relationship between metadata, history, and education, and the ontological/epistemological/ethical/political dimensions of social identity categories.
