About

Kyle Tanaka is the Student Success and Outcomes Librarian and works across campus colleges, offices, and departments to ensure students have the resources and skills needed to succeed at Cal Poly. He uses institutional, CSU, and higher education data to identify disparities in higher education access, success, and outcomes, and employs data-driven, research-based approaches to address those disparities. Kyle has a PhD in philosophy from Emory University, an MA in philosophy from Stony Brook University, and a BA in philosophy from California State University, Stanislaus. His academic interests include critical pedagogy, the relationships between metadata, history, and education, and the ontological/epistemological/ethical/political dimensions of social identity categories.
