LibRATs help students do research

Want to be a LibRAT?

We're hiring! Read the job description and apply through Mustang Jobs.

A LibRAT is a Cal Poly Student who has received special training from several College Librarians. The LibRAT helps students with specific reasearch needs and can provide lots of information about Kennedy Library and its services.

Learn how to use our services

You already know that the library has books. And the library is a great place to study. But we want you to a.) know that we are much more than that and b.) know how to use our services. We admit — there is a little learning curve. But it's not steep! We swear! And the LibRATs can show you how.

Who are the LibRATs?

We like to think of them as an elite group! This is a limited number of students who have trained with our librarians and reference staff to understand how to do research using library resources and services. LibRATs then use their skills and knowledge to help their fellow students understand how to find the resources needed for papers and projects.

LibRATs serve at the Research Help Desk in Kennedy Library (Room 111) and also provide help via Chat Reference.
