We invite you to an award ceremony and reception from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, to celebrate Cal Poly’s 2014 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award.
Cal Poly was named a recipient by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) in recognition of library staff and programs that deliver exemplary services and resources to further the educational mission of the institution. ACRL awards are given out in university, college and community college categories.
We were selected in the university category for innovations in student engagement; partnerships across campus; and our emphasis on being open, inclusive and connected. We’re the first university library in California to receive the award since the program’s inception in 2000.
The event is sponsored by the ACRL and YBP Library Services, a bookseller for academic libraries. Trevor Dawes, ACRL president, and John Elliott, vice president of U.S. sales for YBP, will present the award.
We will also hold a research showcase featuring library support of faculty—student research on May 1. Provost Kathleen Enz Finken will share welcoming remarks at 5:00PM.
Anyone planning to attend either event is asked to RSVP: bit.ly/acrl-rsvp.
