Event Details
FrankenFall is a series of interdisciplinary events at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein (1818). The book is frequently taught in college courses across disciplines, so students from all majors will enjoy participating in this international and historic celebration.
This quarter’s events begin with an all-day public reading of the novel in Kennedy Library on Halloween. Students interested in reading can sign up before Friday, October 12th (info is below). This performance is part of the Keats-Shelley Association of America’s Frankenreads, a worldwide marathon reading of the novel, and Cal Poly will be joining over 700 institutions across the globe in this exciting undertaking.
Other events include a November 14th screening of National Theatre Live’s Frankenstein in Chumash Auditorium (courtesy of BY Experience); a Kennedy Library exhibit of student projects on Frankenstein to be displayed during the last week of instruction; and a December 6th talk by Gillen D’Arcy Wood on “Frankenstein and Climate Change.” Events are free and open to the public.
