Cal Poly Authors Monographs Collection

Monographs

The University Archives collects commercially published monographs written or compiled by members of the university’s faculty. These monographs are placed in the Cal Poly Authors Collection and housed in the Special Collections Department. The purpose of this collection is to secure for posterity a representative sample of the scholarly endeavors of the faculty of this university. Materials in this collection are available for exhibitions or for temporary reassignment to the Reserve Room Collection at the discretion of Special Collections staff.

Faculty members who have published are encouraged to provide courtesy copies from their publishers to the Kennedy Library for this collection. Signed copies of faculty monographs are particularly sought.

Because of budgetary limitations, this collection excludes lab manuals, pamphlets, workbooks, self-published materials and multiple copies of the same title. However, donations of such publications will be considered for inclusion in the collection. New editions of older works that are substantially revised will be considered.

Journal Articles and Other Serial Publications

The Kennedy Library manages DigitalCommons@CalPoly, the university’s institutional repository. The repository acquires and manages scholarly, intellectual, and creative work produced by members of the Cal Poly community. Contributors retain all intellectual property rights to their work and assign a non-exclusive license to the university for the purposes of open access to users worldwide.

DigitalCommons@CalPoly also contains other digital assets (e.g., campus planning documents, university publications, digital library collections) to create a co-located and open-access digital repository available to users regardless of location.
