Packing, scanning, and checking-in texts and media might sound a little boring, but without it, we wouldn’t have access to a lot of valuable stuff. And for student assistant Roxanne Hoffman, this is all in a day’s work with Interlibrary Loan at Kennedy Library.

Making more than 600 master theses searchable through the library’s online cataloging database, PolyCat, may sound difficult and complicated. But, for Alex Georges, student assistant for library-monographs, this all a part of what makes his position unique. In addition to cataloging recently submitted and past alumni’s master theses, Alex sorts through incoming mail and processes new books and gift orders.
This year, two talented student assistants from Kennedy Library were recognized with honors at Cal Poly’s Outstanding Student Employee of the Year awards reception. Glen Beebe, a programmer in Library Information Technology, was named Cal Poly’s top student employee out of 49 nominees from across campus, and Jennifer Ray, College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Science (CAFES) librarian student assistant was named second runner up. Three cheers for Glen and Jennifer!
