Kaila Bussert named new Foundational Experiences Librarian

Kaila Bussert joined Cal Poly on July 7 as the new Foundational Experiences Librarian.

Kaila will work across the campus to develop instructional and recreational programming to support the development of competencies and literacies that are the underpinning of a successful comprehensive polytechnic education.

Using a data-driven evaluative process, Kennedy Library, with special one-time funds, purchased perpetual access to a large number of high-demand electronic journal back files. This means that faculty, students and other users can have access to all content for hundreds of scholarly journals.

Celebrating Kennedy Library’s ACRL Award

The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) named Cal Poly’s Robert E. Kennedy Library as a recipient of the 2014 Excellence in Academic Libraries Award. In other words, Kennedy Library was picked as the best university library out of all who applied. Click here to read the award-winning application.

Objects of Affection exhibit opens May 12 with reception May 23

“Objects of Affection,” an exhibit that draws on the personal papers of families featured in an ethnic studies project, will be on display at the Kennedy Library at Cal Poly from May 12 to June 6.

An opening reception featuring spoken word, musical entertainment and authentic Filipino cuisine is planned from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 23, in Kennedy Library’s second floor.

Outstanding student employee of the year nominees and winner!

Cal Poly’s Outstanding Student Employee of the Year awards reception was held last week. Among the nominees were three students from Kennedy Library — Ben Kieffer, Matt Rice and Lauren Young, who was named second runner up!
