April – May 2013
The topic of conversation will be Ronald Den Otter’s Judicial Review in an Age of Moral Pluralism, which was published by Cambridge University Press in 2009.
We’ll begin our conversation with the author, who will talk informally about his process researching and writing the book. Then Den Otter and special guest Jude Egan will explore constitutional theory, public reason and other related topics, leaving time at the end for Q&A with the audience.

DATAUP: Documenting, Managing, and Archiving Tabular Data
The Data Studio at Kennedy Library will feature Carly Strasser, PhD, California Digital Library’s Data Curation Specialist, discussing faculty and student data archiving from 11 a.m. to 12pm in the Data Studio (Room 111C) on Thursday, April 18. Many granting agencies now require the sharing and archiving of data generated during a project. Strasser will discuss a free open source tool that helps researchers document, manage, and archive their tabular data via integration with Microsoft Excel. Everyone is welcome. For more information please visit DATAUP or Kennedy Library’s Data Services.
The Data Studio at Kennedy Library (111C) will host an open house on Friday, May 3rd from 9-11:30am. The event includes a talk from 10-11am, Pioneering in the Data Frontier: Discovering the World Anew by Melissa Cragin, AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow in residence at the National Science Foundation, serving in the Office of the Assistant Director of the Directorate for Biological Sciences. Cragin will explore the idea that big data and data science will lead to stronger economies and new solutions for global problems, as well as the risks of big data’s presence in our daily lives. Immediately before and after Cragin’ talk, students will present their work with data. All are welcome and refreshments will be served.
