Peter Runge Co-Authors Architecture Book
Published by the University of Arizona Press in June 2011, the book documents the history of Northern Arizona University’s physical campus where Runge previously worked. It includes more than two hundred images of campus buildings, many of them never before published.
People make the story
“The book provided me with an opportunity to delve into the rich array of primary sources housed at the University Archives and learn more about the history of Northern Arizona University,” Runge said. “The buildings are undoubtedly the tangible artifacts of the campus, but we discovered it’s the people that make the story so compelling. It is our hope that the book reflects these two very important aspects of the university’s history.”
Drickamer and Runge made use of the university’s archives for photographs of each building shortly after construction and at present. Arranged chronologically, the illustrated volume briefly describes the history of each building at the university as well as the person for which the building is dedicated. The authors describe various structural aspects and provide entertaining and informative anecdotes about events and people associated with the structures.
