Jesse Vestermark joined Cal Poly on February 24 as College Librarian for the College of Architecture and Environmental Design. Jesse’s experience and training as an artist and educator, his work with visual resource collections, and his love of architecture, all make him a great match for meeting the information needs of the faculty and students of CAED.
Jesse received MFA and MA degrees in painting and drawing, and an MA in Library and Information Studies, all from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His recent work experience has included serving as a librarian in the Arts, Architecture, and Landscape Architecture Library at the University of Minnesota, and spending a year at Yale as a Kress Fellow and Art Librarian. About working at Cal Poly, Jesse says, “as a librarian with a background in design and aesthetics, I hope to contribute to the CAED experience by helping students and faculty discover the resources that will drive and inspire their own creations.”
As one of Cal Poly’s seven College Librarians, Jesse will work closely with CAED faculty to create the online guides, tutorials, and course assignments that help students use information to succeed in their studies at Cal Poly, and to prepare them for lifelong professional success. He will also help select information resources (books, journals and more) needed by the College, consult with students and researchers on their research needs; and provide workshops and hands-on instruction in using relevant resources.
Jesse can be reached at 6-2640 and his office is in the Kennedy Library on the second floor, 216F. His email is ude.yloplacnull@mretsevj.
