Brett Bodemer joined Cal Poly in July as College Librarian for the College of Liberal Arts. A Seattle native, Brett moved to Hawaii in 2001, and earned two graduate degrees at the University of Hawaii at Manoa: an MA in French Language and Literature, and in 2009 his MLISc (Library and Information Science). He has published fiction, poetry and articles, and his non-fiction book, “John Hedley in North China and Inner Mongolia,1897-1912,” was released by EastBridge in 2008.
Brett spent 2007 in Hanoi, where he taught English and worked with anthropologists in editing exhibit texts for the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology. Brett’s wide intellectual interests and public service background make him a wonderful match for serving the College of Liberal Arts and the greater Cal Poly community. “A Liberal Arts College in a Polytechnic University offers unique opportunities that are guaranteed to be relevant in the twenty-first century,” says Brett. “I’m really looking forward to meeting with faculty, staff, and students of CLA to see what they are cooking up.”
Brett can be reached at 805-756-2203 and his office is in the Kennedy Library on the second floor, 216D. His email is ude.yloplacnull@remedobb.
