The National Book Critics Circle, founded in 1974, is a non-profit organization consisting of nearly 700 active book reviewers who are interested in honoring quality writing and communicating with one another about common concerns. Here are the winners for 2007:

  • Autobiography: Brother, I’m dying by Edwidge Dandicat
  • Nonfiction: Medical apartheid: the dark history of medical experimentation on Black Americans from colonial times to the present by Harriet Washington
  • Fiction: The brief wondrous life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
