Fall at Kennedy Library: Welcome and Thank You!
Fall is in the air at last!
As we open the doors on a new academic year, I’d like to begin by sharing our thanks to donors whose generosity helped fund four new study rooms on the library’s second floor: ‘fishbowls’ especially designed for faculty to meet with students – and with each other.
We were proud that President Armstrong recognized the two inaugural faculty winners of the Learn by Doing Scholar Award – also funded by generous donors – at this year’s fall conference; and we are excited to offer the award again this year. Again, we are thankful to our visionary friends for making this new award possible.
We are excited to contribute to Cal Poly’s new Diversity Strategic Framework. As part of our commitment to inclusivity, the Kennedy Library is committed to making learning resources more affordable for all students. We hope you can join us on October 22 during Open Access Week for a presentation about the work Professor Laura Hosman and her students are doing to create affordable learning materials.
As a friendly, approachable space with convenient evening hours, the library continues to partner with the Graduate Studies Program to host their successful Thesis Coaching Clinic, and with the Writing and Rhetoric Center to host drop-in writing support four nights a week in the library.
We hope you enjoy this new quarterly newsletter, where we will share highlights and news from the library throughout the year. In between newsletter issues, we invite you to keep up with a great line-up of library events, news, and stories on our blog, Out Loud.
As always, we welcome your feedback – just email firstname.lastname@example.org to reach our team with your ideas or questions.
