I don't get it, how do I use this thing? How do I use the installed apps?

See the tab on 'iPad Basics' for more information or ask a computer support assistant at the PolyConnect service desk. More help is available from Apple

How can I get files on and off of the iPad?

Add an email account in "Settings" — use Gmail, Yahoo, or your Cal Poly email. See Library iPad Basics for more information or ask a computer support assistant at the PolyConnect service desk.

I connected the iPad to my computer to access my iTunes account and now I can't use any of the installed apps. What happened?

Your iTunes account is probably set to automatically "sync" with any connected Apple device. If this happens your contents and apps will replace the content and apps that are installed by the Library. Bring the iPad back to the PolyConnect service desk and we will re-install the apps.

I'm trying to connect to the Internet in the Library, should I use Mustang Wireless or Secured Mustang Wireless?

In "Settings" select Wi-Fi and use Secured Mustang Wireless, this might require a second log in. If the Library iPad won't connect to Mustang Secure Wireless, try switching the Wi-Fi button off and then on.

Can I use the Library iPad to read and make notes on a PDF?

Yes, using the Good Reader app follow these steps:

  1. When reading an email or on a website, hold the link for the PDF until a menu pops up.
  2. Select "Open in New Page" to open the PDF in a new tab.
  3. If you place your finger on the document a bar will appear at the top. Select the right most option "Open in…" and then GoodReader from the drop down list.
  4. GoodReader should now open the document in an instance of the program. Note that if the file is write protected the options for editing or placing bookmarks will not appear in GoodReader.
