Senior Project Copyright
Students own the copyrights to their senior projects. Although the law does not make registration a condition of copyright protection, Kennedy Library advises students to register senior projects promptly with the Copyright Office.
General Copyright Registration Requirements:
- A completed registration form
- One complete copy of the senior project
- Registration fee of $45
The Copyright Law does not specify that copyright notices must be placed in unpublished works. However, it would be advantageous for you to place a copyright notice on your senior project.
The sheet bearing the copyright notice in all the copies of your senior project should be inserted immediately following the title page. The copyright notice consists of the following three elements:
- The word Copyright or the symbol ©
- The year date of publication
- The name of the copyright owner (your name)
The three elements must appear together, thus:
