GIS
GIS stands for "geographic information systems." GIS is a type of software that helps people think spatially and approach problems from a geographic perspective. Spatial data reveals patterns, illustrates problems, and shows connections that are not otherwise evident. It can be used in business, history, environmental science, agriculture, civil engineering, architecture and many other areas of study.
Kennedy Library's GIS program includes providing GIS software, supporting GIS-related events and outreach, and providing GIS consultative and learning support services.
For more information consult Carol Schuldt, GIS Specialist at lib-gis@calpoly.edu.
Map Collection
The Map Collection emphasizes contemporary maps of the Central Coast Region and the West Coast of the United States. General maps for a geographic area and subject are also available. For more information, consult a College Librarian, a Research Help Desk staff member or the Maps Research Guide.
