I’ve gotten a few pings about my blog name. I definitely didn’t want to go with “digital librarian”(too literal), “d-lib” (too trite), or “digital diva” (too histrionic). I gave some serious thought about what I wanted to accomplish with this blog.

Have you ever wondered why some technologies have crossed into mainstream (like the iPod) while others fizzle (a la HD DVD)? As a digital librarian, my time and interest is devoted to electronic information issues related to open access, scholarly communication, digital repositories, web 2.0 technologies, digital preservation & curation as well as other technological innovations and notions that have yet crossed the chasm into the mainstream. Highlighting these issues may – in my small sphere of influence – help bridge the innovation chasm.
