SAN LUIS OBISPO, California — February 16, 2007 — The Cal Poly Library Web site is among the first Web sites to integrate AnswerTips™ — a new service from Answers.com™.

The Cal Poly Library worked with Answers.com to preview the tool and was allowed to integrate the service beginning Friday, February 16, 2007 - four days before the product's anticipated press release.

"We are really pleased to partner with Answers.com to provide such a helpful tool for our users. New users — particularly students new to research and scholarly publication may find it particularly helpful as they begin research, properly cite a primary source, or learn to compile a bibliography," said Helen Chu, Director of Library Information Technology.

Double-clicking any non-linked word on the Library Web site will open a small pop-up window — an AnswerTip — with a concise explanation of the word or phrase. The AnswerTip also links to extensive resources on that topic in a new browser window by clicking on the "More" button.

Answers.com partners with a number of content providers and publishers, including American Heritage dictionaries, Barron's, Britannica, CIA Factbook, Columbia University Press, GALE, Houghton Mifflin, MedicineNet, NY Public Library, and Wikipedia.
