Authentication from off-campus due to change Sunday June 18th, 2006

Library is switching to "portal authentication"

June 12th, 2006. Effective June 18th, the library will be changing the way users authenticate themselves when connecting from off-campus to access the library's electronic resources. On-campus access will not change.

The library subscribes to a large number of electronic databases, e-journals, e-books, etc. These resources are listed in PolyCAT, our all databases page, or from other locations.

To date, library users accessing these resources from off-campus have needed to provide their last name and barcode number before access is granted. This will change. Instead, when we need to authenticate you, you will be directed to the portal login screen. After entering your official Cal Poly username and password, you will be redirected to the resource you originally requested.

Your session will last as long as your browser remains open, so you are free to move from resource to resource without needing to re-authenticate. When your session is complete, we recommend closing your browser.

If you have any questions about the change, please contact webmaster@lib.calpoly.edu.
