Sarah Faye Cohen joins Kennedy Library
June 1, 2012 Sarah Faye Cohen joined Cal Poly as associate university librarian for academic services in the Robert E. Kennedy Library. Reporting directly to University Librarian Anna K. Gold, Cohen will lead the library's assessment programs and has primary responsibility for the library's academic support programs, including the College Librarian program, research assistance and reference services, and access services (circulation, course reserves,interlibrary services and document delivery).
Building campus partnerships
"Sarah Cohen has proven experience collaborating with instructional designers, academic leaders, faculty, and librarians to achieve a program of media and technologyrich learning for undergraduate students," said University Librarian Anna Gold. "We are delighted she has chosen to join us in building our campus partnerships with faculty, students, and academic technology."
Before joining Cal Poly, Cohen was Assistant Director of the Miller Information Commons at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. There she supervised a team of librarians, and coordinated all aspects of an integrated and awardwinning fouryear information literacy program that embraced technology and emphasized critical thinking skills.
In addition to experience leading instruction and assessment, Cohen has served as an adjunct professor both in person and online, and implemented web-based interactive technologies to support learning. Cohen's numerous activities in the community have included cofounding and chairing Sustain Champlain, and serving as Library Commissioner for the City of Burlington.
Cohen holds an undergraduate degree in English Language and Literature from Smith College, and a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois at UrbanaChampaign.
