New College Librarians for CLA, CAFES, Join Cal Poly

Two new librarians joined Cal Poly this summer. Brett Bodemer is the new College Librarian for the College of Liberal Arts. Brett is a Seattle native who earned two graduate degrees at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and is a published author. His wide intellectual interests and public service background make him a wonderful match for serving the College of Liberal Arts. Brett can be reached at 6-2203 and his office is in the Kennedy Library on the second floor, 216D. His email is bbodemer@calpoly.edu

Also joining Cal Poly this summer is Katherine O'Clair, Librarian for the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences. Katherine's previous position was at Arizona State University, where she was the liaison to the Schools of Life Sciences and Sustainability. She is active in state and national professional associations, and was recognized in 2007 with Library Journal's prestigious "mover and shaker" award. Katherine can be reached at 6-2690 and her office is in the Kennedy Library on the third floor, 312C. Her email is koclair@calpoly.edu.

CAED College Librarian Leanne Hindmarch left Cal Poly in July, and while recruitment for this vacancy is underway, Wayne Montgomery (College Librarian for Engineering) has stepped in to coordinate Library support for CAED. Wayne can be reached at 6-2057. His office is on the first floor (111F) and his email is wmontgom@calpoly.edu.

With the merger of the College of Education into COSAM, Jeanine Scaramozzino, Librarian for the College of Science and Mathematics, will now coordinate Library support for STEM and other education programs. Dr. José Montelongo, formerly College Librarian for the College of Education, left Kennedy Library in August to join the faculty in the School of Education.

Each of the Library's eight College Librarians works closely with College faculty to develop learning resources that will help students acquire the information, media, and digital literacy skills needed for lifelong professional success. They provide customized course web pages; online tutorials; and model assignments, and they are also available to provide guest in-class presentations or workshops.
