$8.00 - $9.00/hr., dependent upon qualifications; Paid monthly.
Hours
Weekdays, between 8am and 4pm.
10-20 hours per week.

Description
DigitalCommons@CalPoly, part of Robert E. Kennedy Library Services, is an online digital project that collects, preserves and provides open access to both student and faculty scholarly work created at Cal Poly, Senior projects, master's theses and faculty publications such as journal articles and other textual materials.
Position Description
Under the direct supervision of DigitalCommons Staff, this position performs routine duties assisting with locating, digitizing, processing and uploading of scholarly digital collections for public use on the DigitalCommons@CalPoly.
Responsibilities
Perform database and online searches to locate and retrieve published documents and other textual materials; scan textual content and enter data according to predetermined standards; perform quality assurance tasks to determine accuracy and thoroughness of scanning; assist with the preparation of digital files for upload to DigitalCommons@CalPoly including OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to ensure American Disabilities Act compliance; assist in processing and upload of content for display on the DigitalCommons@CalPoly; enter and verify metadata according to predefined schema and guidelines; perform routine filing and record-keeping activities; may include creation of SelectedWorks profile pages, transcription of digital files and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; dependability; attention to detail; willingness to learn; willingness to use new technologies; experience with Microsoft Word.
Preferred Qualifications
- Work Study
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Knowledge of library catalogs and databases
Physical Characteristics
- Ability to push fully loaded book trucks
- Ability to work on a computer keyboard to enter and retrieve information
