Learning Commons Coordinator

Job Description

Reporting directly to the Director of Library Information Technology, the Learning Commons Coordinator is responsible for all Learning Commons services including computer labs, public printers, collaboration rooms, equipment check out counters, service desks, and support for special events. Reporting to the Coordinator, Learning Commons student support staff are responsible for serving as the first point of contact for patrons requiring technical assistance, as well as general assistance with basic library services. The Learning Commons Coordinator works closely with other Library Information Technology staff (LIT) and library faculty/staff, Cal Poly Information Technology Services (ITS), the Disabilities Resource Center (DRC), the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL), University Scheduling, and campus faculty, staff, and students.

About Robert E. Kennedy Library

Library Services (Kennedy Library) is responsible for planning, implementing and managing campus-wide information resources and related services with an annual budget of $6+ million and approximately 50 staff. Library Services has four departments: Public Services, Collection Management, Special Collections and Archives, and Library Information Technology in addition to the Dean's Administrative Office.

About LIT

Library Information Technology (LIT) provides assistance to faculty, staff and students to access and use library related information resources and technologies to carry out their teaching, learning, research and support activities. LIT works closely with other departments of the library in order to support and encourage their technology related initiatives. LIT includes Library Systems and Desktop Support Services, Programming and Web Development, and the Learning Commons.
