Reimagining Kennedy Library

Since 2007 Kennedy Library has undergone significant transformations in its user and staff spaces, including the 2008 expansion of the second floor Learning Commons, creating multi-use 24 hour study spaces, renewing the atrium, establishing the Data Studio, and creating an innovative active learning classroom.

In fall 2013 Cal Poly will begin working with leading architectural firm Shepley Bulfinch to re-imagine programming and facilities design in the Kennedy Library building through 2019.

The project will be led by a Steering Committee chaired by University Librarian Anna Gold and joined by Vice Provost / CIO Michael D. Miller, who provided funding for the project; Joel Neel, Director of Campus Facilities Planning and Capital Projects; and CAED Dean Christine Theodoropoulos.

An expanded Building Program Committee will include the library’s leadership team and representatives of library staff, faculty, students, and partners, who will provide expertise on program directions and priorities, and support broad communication and consultation with the Cal Poly community.
